Should year-round school be used in the Huron Valley district?

I think that year round school would be a better thing to have. There are a few reasons why.

With the long summer break, the students start to forget everything that they had learned the year before. By the end of the year, students are so anguished that they stop concentrating on school and start thinking more about summer vacation. When students get out of school in June, they don’t get anything all summer to help them remember everything that they were taught the past year. Then when it comes to the next school year, students have a very hard time picking back up with what they had been learning the past school year.

With one model of year-round school (it can vary), students go to school for a full month and then get two weeks off of school. The process goes all year round. The students end up with the same amount of days out of school. By giving the students two weeks off of school for every month they go, they tend to want to learn more. The students are not as tired of school and try harder knowing that they get a break after working hard. This will improve the student’s grades and build up a student’s confidence in their learning ability.

Another thing that makes year round school great is the way the time off of school is spread out. With how spread out the days off are, it makes it easier for a family to plan a vacation and it gives a student a chance to spend more time with their family. It also gives students a chance to enjoy being out of school during different seasons of the year, which allows each student to enjoy what they like to do outside.

Year-round school is definitely some thing that the Huron Valley district should consider doing. This is because of all the great things it has to offer to our students. It can also help the students achieve better grades.

Highestwire polls:

How would you rate the emergency response efforts for Hurricane Katrina?

Options include:

A five; we're all doing all we can do

A four; People have really come together. Even if the rescue efforts were hampered a little, everyone is chipping in to help

A One; What else could they have done, given the conditions of the city?

A three; They tried hard, but factors outside of their control (looters, fires, chaos) slowed them down

A two; It was about what I expected would happen

A zero; why did President Bush wait so long to send troops? Why was there so much miscommunication among government officials?

Emergency Response? What emergency response? Government officials up through Bush should all be fired!

I'm just glad I wasn't there

If people had heeded the evacuation orders, everything would have been fine
